The Department of Common Courses aims to contribute to our university students becoming individuals who have the ability to express themselves and their thoughts and to reason about facts through basic courses in different disciplines.
2024-2025 Academic Year Responsibilities
The Common Courses Department provides the execution and coordination of the Turkish language and Atatürk's Principles and Revolution History courses, which are compulsory to be taught in universities in accordance with Article 5, Clause 1 of the Council of Higher Education Law No. 2547.
It is responsible for the distance education of Turkish and Ataturk's Principles and History of Revolution courses that students who continue their education in the undergraduate departments and associate degree programs of our university have to take in the first two semesters of their university life. The courses are uploaded weekly to Cats, the distance education course system, and the questions that students want to ask about the course are answered in the virtual classroom of the relevant week. Course contents prepared in accordance with the purpose of computer-assisted education and training follow current information.
The aim of Atatürk's Principles and History of Revolution courses is to contribute to the education of Istanbul Kültür University students as good citizens who are useful to their country in line with Kemalist thought, principles, and revolutions. It is aimed to gain universal values in the light of the experiences of our recent history and to raise conscious individuals who will avoid repeating the mistakes in history. In this direction, it aims to contribute to the upbringing of generations free of intellect, conscience, and wisdom.
Within the scope of Turkish courses, it is aimed to raise students who have a command of the language they speak, have the skills to express themselves and their thoughts, are aware of the subtleties of language, language skills, and the importance of linguistic communication, and aim to develop their written and oral expression skills, reading, and writing skills.
Under the coordination of Common Courses Turkish courses, compulsory Turkish courses are given to foreign students in our university, and elective Basic Turkish I and Basic Turkish II courses are also given to students who come to our university within the scope of the Erasmus exchange program.
